CPIT – Project Director

An IT Project Management Professional is a person responsible and accountable for an IT project and delegated the necessary authority to undertake that responsibility. HKITPC classifies IT project management professionals into three levels:

Eligibility Requirements

Applicant must satisfy the General Eligibility Requirements of the HKITPC, and the following specific specialization requirements of the respective CPIT credential.

CPIT Credential Academic Qualification IT Project Management Experience
CPIT(PD) Degree holder Minimum ten years with at least two projects of high project complexity
Non degree holder Minimum fifteen years with at least two projects of high project complexity

Competency Requirements

Applicants of each level of Certified Professional of IT Project Management are required to demonstrate certain level of achievement in 12 knowledge areas associated with successful performance of project management in IT projects:

  • Scope management
  • Time management
  • Cost management
  • Quality management
  • HR management
  • Communications management
  • Risk management
  • Procurement management
  • Local Regulations and Practices
  • Other business management knowledge
  • ICT foundation and knowledge
